Attachment-Focused, Integrated Trauma Therapy

Dr. Kerry Klett is a licensed clinical psychologist and trauma therapist with over 30 years of experience helping clients with all types of problems to find greater life satisfaction and relief from their symptoms.

Hello
I'm Dr. Kerry Klett and I practice attachment-focused trauma therapy. My approach integrates our growing body of research in applied neuroscience with what we have found most helpful from 150 years of clinical psychoanalytic theory and practice.
My early training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy has taught me the significance of early life experiences, the power of the unconscious and the importance of the therapeutic relationship as the foundation of change.
In my work, I help people explore how early relationships and attachment loss may have impacted their present-day lives, keeping them from feeling content, connected and safe in the world.
In the past three decades, as our understanding of trauma and the brain has progressed, I have integrated contemporary neuroscience-informed interventions into my practice, recognizing that lasting change often requires working not just with the mind, but with the brain and body as well.

The Brain in Trauma
Trauma changes the way the brain processes incoming information from the environment, leaving us feeling drained and disconnected. Early life trauma changes the brain's developing networks, leading to constant states of high alert in adulthood, always scanning for threat.
If you feel exhausted, overwhelmed or confused by reactions you can't seem to control or understand, this may be the reason.
We were designed this way. It helped us stay alive and was an advantage over 100,000 years ago when the world was a constant source of danger. But this survival wiring can leave us feeling anxious and exhausted in contemporary environments, where we are usually safe from life- threatening harm.

Your brain adapted to protect you.Now it needs help updating.

With the right tools your nervous system can learn to feel safer and you can begin to experience life with greater calm, clarity and connection.
